The Engineering Training Center (Industry Center) of Jiangsu University is a university level center integrating teaching, scientific research and social service, which is the key construction and management of the University. Guided by the idea of "Big Engineering Education", the "Industry Center" closely focuses on the goal of cultivating research-oriented, interdisciplinary and innovative engineering and technical talents in Jiangsu University, insist on taking students as the main body, persist in imparting knowledge, cultivating abilities, and improving the coordinated development of quality, and focus on cultivating students' engineering practice ability, comprehensive analysis and design ability, scientific research ability and innovative spirit. Over the years, through the special funds jointly built by the Ministry and the province and the key investment of the school, with the goal of building a first-class innovation quality training base for students, the laboratory construction has been organically combined with the specialty construction, curriculum construction and discipline construction, and the integration of experiment, practice, engineering training and social service has been built, there are four training platforms, namely, engineering knowledge, basic engineering training, modern engineering training, comprehensive and innovative training, and 11 demonstration teaching windows such as numerical control technology and reverse engineering. Constantly improve the multi-level and modular practical teaching system to meet the needs of diversified talent cultivation, which embodies the combination of mass education and personalized training, the combination of theoretical teaching and practical teaching, the combination of in class practice and extracurricular scientific and technological activities, the combination of practice content with engineering background and scientific research projects. Through training of implementation ability (basic ability, comprehensive ability, scientific research and engineering practice ability), content (experiment, practice, engineering training), time (from freshman to senior), and objects (undergraduate, master and doctoral), provide a broader practice platform for students of different grades, majors and interests, promote the reform of teaching reform and management mechanism, continuously deepen the connotation construction, and form a new practice teaching mode of high-quality resources integration and sharing, teaching, scientific research and social services blending and promoting, and collaborative and open practice teaching. The construction concept, curriculum system and operation mode of the Industry Center have been highly praised by the expert group of the Ministry of education and the Ministry of finance, and also highly praised by the provincial and municipal leaders.

In 2004, the achievements of the construction, reform and operation of the Industry Center —— "Research and practice of the open engineering training system of higher engineering education" won the special prize for teaching achievements of Jiangsu Province and the second prize of national teaching achievement award in 2005. In 2007, the Industry Center was approved as the construction unit of the national experimental teaching demonstration center; the research and practice of innovative personnel training of mechanical specialty based on the concept of "Big engineering education" won the first prize of Jiangsu Province for teaching achievements. In 2009, the teaching team of the series of mechanical manufacturing courses was rated as the national teaching team; the research and practice of implementing the "Four-in-one" comprehensive teaching reform to cultivate innovative talents of mechanical specialty was awarded the second prize of Jiangsu provincial teaching achievement. In 2010, the engineering training course was approved as the excellent course of Jiangsu Province; the engineering knowledge course was awarded the excellent course of the University. In 2011, the research and practice of "Modern mechanical engineer" training won the second prize of Jiangsu teaching achievement. In 2015, the Industry Center was approved as the National University practice education innovation and entrepreneurship base. In 2017, as the main part of support, our university was approved as a national innovation and entrepreneurship typical experience demonstration University.

"Industry Center" takes undergraduate teaching as the main body, and has the functions of postgraduate education, young teacher training, scientific research and social services, and is open to the whole school and the society. There are Academic Committee and Teaching Steering Committee, under which there are five departments: General Affairs Department, Engineering Training and Teaching Department, Experimental Teaching Department, Training and Service Department and College Students' Innovation and Entrepreneurship Activity Center, and they share and build the mechanical engineering center laboratory with the school of mechanical engineering. At present, there are 120 teaching staff, including 88 full-time teaching staff, including 38 with senior professional title, accounting for 43%; 33 with master's degree or above, accounting for 37%. The structure of teachers tends to be reasonable. The construction area of the center is 22245 square meters. The total value of the equipment is 57.124 million yuan, and the number of instruments and equipment is 2696 sets, including 102 sets of large-scale instruments and equipment above 100000 yuan. At present, there are 379 experiments, internships and training programs for more than 11010 students in 49 undergraduate majors of the University, with an annual teaching capacity of 970 thousand person hours.

In the past five years, the "Industry Center" teachers have published 71 series of teaching materials for experiments, internships and engineering training, and vocational skills training materials, including 52 self-made training and experimental guidance books, and 13 self-made experimental instruments. Using the platform of Industry Center, students won one special prize, two first prizes and three second prizes in national competitions such as national challenge cup and national college students' engineering training comprehensive ability competition. It has won 6 first prizes, 12 second prizes, 10 third prizes and 6 excellent organization awards in Jiangsu provincial advanced manufacturing technology practice teaching and innovation production competition and mechanical innovation design competition. The Industry Center has sponsored 30-40 scientific and technological projects for college students every year, and has undertaken the school's mechanical innovation design and production competition, the National College Students' engineering training comprehensive ability competition, etc, it has established a mechanical creative design and intelligent car innovation community organization, which has opened a number of extracurricular innovation courses for all students, including mechanical and electrical product creative design, small electromechanical integration device design and production, product digital design and production, intelligent car design and so on. It plays an important role in cultivating and cultivating the excellent quality of students in Jiangsu University. "Industry Center" has made remarkable achievements in teaching concept, teaching reform, team building, teaching material construction, personnel training and so on, and its role of demonstration and radiation has gradually emerged.

The "Industry Center" will continue to optimize teaching resources in accordance with the Ministry of education's "Standards for experimental teaching demonstration center of basic courses in Colleges and universities" and the practical teaching requirements of personnel training in teaching and research universities, and take the opportunity of joint construction by Ministry and province to continuously optimize teaching resources, actively adapt to the needs of multi-level, multi-functional, personalized and open talents training, and carry out systematic exploration and practice in teaching concept innovation, base construction, team construction, teaching material construction, curriculum reform and construction, teaching research and scientific research, and teaching management innovation. The "Industry Center" will be built into a national experimental teaching demonstration center with advanced teaching concept, excellent infrastructure, standardized teaching management, wide range of benefits for students, and strong demonstration and radiation effect.
