On August 20th, the 9th China-Japan-ROK Summer Innovative Engineering Design Program (SPIED) was inaugurated in our school. More than 60 teachers and students from six Japanese and South Korean universities, including Yamaguchi University in Japan, Kunsan National University in South Korea, Chungbuk National University and Inje University, attended the opening ceremony through the online platform. President Yan Xiaohong, relevant personnel from industrial Center and Computer School attended the event. The opening ceremony was presided over by Pan Jianfeng, director of International Office.

Yan Xiaohong delivered the opening speech, warmly welcomed the teachers and students from Japan and the ROK to participate in the SPIED program, and briefly introduced the history of the university, the international cooperation and exchanges with Japanese and Rok universities and the achievements of international education. Yan xiaohong said that the construction of a high-level international teaching platform and team has played an important role in the university's "new engineering" education reform and innovative engineering talent training, and the university will rely on the advantages of engineering to escort the project.

Yamaguchi University President Masahiro Oka and Inje University President Jeon Min-hyun delivered a speech, expressing high hopes for the development of this project. Representatives of professors and students from China, Japan and Korea delivered keynote speeches.

During the one-week SPIED project, an English teaching team consisting of 14 Chinese and foreign professors will lead an international team consisting of 58 Chinese, Japanese and South Korean students to brainstorm innovative thinking skills and come up with their own ideas and design content around the theme of "Smart Life with COVID-19". Determine the design scheme, and jiangsu University students finish the offline production of innovative works, and finally organize the online work defense and evaluation.

SPIED program is an innovative activity jointly initiated by Jiangsu University, Yamaguchi University in Japan and Gunsan University in South Korea in 2013. It is held by universities of China, Japan and South Korea in turn in August for 1-2 weeks. The project aims to achieve the integration of multidisciplinary knowledge by grouping students from different countries and majors to create objects, and improve students' interdisciplinary innovation ability, team spirit and international communication ability. Our school successfully held this program in 2014 and 2017.
