The Engineering Practice and Innovation Competition for College Students is an excellent program that aims to cultivate engineering students who have strong innovation, practical application, and international vision. This program emphasizes the combination of theory and practice, discipline integration, collaborative innovation between schools and enterprises, and integration of science, engineering, and humanities. Through participation in this competition, students can gain valuable experience in engineering practice and innovation, enhance their ability to solve practical problems, and promote the development of engineering education in China. The competition is held every two years and belongs to the A-level competition for college students in China. The 2023 Jiangsu Province Engineering Practice and Innovation Competition for College Students and the selection competition for the 2023 Engineering Practice and Innovation Competition were held at China University of Mining and Technology from October 27th to 29th. The theme of this competition is "cross integration, engineering innovation and pursuit of excellence".

This Jiangsu Provincial Selection Competition consists of 3 tracks and 6 events:

(1) New Energy Track, including solar electric vehicle and thermoelectric electric vehicle;

(2) "Intelligent+" Track, including intelligent logistics handling and intelligent classification of household waste;

(3) Virtual Simulation Track, including engineering scenario digitization and enterprise operation simulation.

The teams of our school participated in five events of this competition and achieved good results with four first prizes, seven second prizes and one excellent organization award. Although they failed to qualify for the national competition, the students gained experience in the competition, developed the abilities of teamwork and innovation, which played a positive role in promoting the practical teaching of engineering at our school.

At the beginning of the Engineering Practice and Innovation Competition for College Students, our school actively organized students to participate and achieved many fruitful results, which has played a positive role in implementing the spirit of national education documents, deepening the reform of engineering education, and comprehensively improving the comprehensive quality and ability level of engineering innovation of college students.
